Job Description
- Reading and reviewing construction plans.
- Learning and participating in plan development.
- Learning asphalt resurfacing contract development and administration, how to conduct Highway Construction Inspections, and Bridge Construction Inspections.
- Developing projects for Secondary Road Construction.
- Participating in our Erosion Control and Sedimentation Program.
- Collaborating with colleagues.
- Presenting a demonstration of your findings and recommendations to a leadership panel near the end of your internship.
- Major in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal presentation skills.
- Able to communicate concepts to a variety of audiences.
- Interest or experience with Surveying.
- Curiosity, coachability, and willingness to engage.
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and projects, prioritize effectively, and navigate high-pressure situations with tight deadlines.
- You work best in a dynamic team environment.

- Bonus points if you’ve completed one or more classes in Transportation Engineering!
- You must be currently enrolled in a bachelors, masters, or professional-level program at an NC Historically Black College/University or Minority Serving Institution.
- GPA of 2.8+ on 4.0 scale.
- You must attach an unofficial transcript to your application.
- You can work in the U.S. without requiring a visa sponsorship.
