Full-Time National Coach Bath NC Olympic Swimming

British Swimming – Posted by waltonk Bath, England, United Kingdom

Job Description

British Swimming is the national governing body for aquatic sports in Great Britain and is responsible internationally for representation of the sports at elite level. The Olympic Swimming Programme is the largest of the six aquatic disciplines, providing world class performance support to approximately 58 swimmers, based in the two British Swimming National Centres in Loughborough and Bath, as well as in clubs across the country and home nations national facilities.

The Olympic Swimming national centres provide a world class training environment for permanent athlete groups and for other programme swimmers to access training and services as a ‘performance hub’ and as a base for national team activity.

Following a very successful Olympics in Tokyo, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the coaching team at the Bath National Centre, situated at the University of Bath. British Swimming is recruiting a National Coach to provide world-class standard coaching to athletes with the ultimate objective of achieving medal success at senior World and Olympic level.

The post will work under the overall direction of the Bath National Centre Lead Coach, with responsibility for developing an identified group of swimmers of all strokes and distances.  You will devise individual athlete plans, including setting performance targets and process goals in collaboration with senior programme staff, including the GB Head Coach.  You will be the lead for your athletes’ assigned support team of specialist practitioners to drive innovation and maximise performance gains for your swimmers. The successful candidate will be a key player in the Bath National Centre staff – operating collaboratively as one team for the centre.  You will work with the Lead Coach to give opportunities to promising pathway athletes to access the national centre, as well as being involved in coaching delivery for hub-based activity.

As a member of the Olympic Swimming Programme’s employed coaching staff, you will also work with other coaches to drive improvements to technical skills, you will deliver coaching and coaching development for national activities and – when selected – play a lead role on national teams.

The successful candidate will have extensive on-deck swimming coaching experience developing athletes towards Olympic standard. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team to drive individual athlete development and this will include proven experience in maintaining formal athlete tracking systems, detailed season planning and use of a review framework.  British Swimming will be looking for candidates with the key, ‘world class’ coaching attributes, such as presenting compelling cases for improved practices, acting as a positive influence at all times, setting high professional standards and promoting full commitment to the programme. You will also be able to demonstrate how you continually set stretch targets and challenge yourself professionally.
