Reports To: Dean of Student Affairs
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide clinical services including culturally responsive and identity-informed planning, solution-focused brief therapy, group counseling, crisis intervention services, psychoeducation, and referrals.
2. Serve as a thought leader, devising new and creative ways of promoting holistic mental health and wellness for students, especially as it relates to promoting their success academically, personally, and professionally.
3. Develop student programs and outreach activities related to sexual assault prevention, drug and alcohol prevention, healthy relationships, and health and wellness.
4. Provide outreach, consultation, and professional development opportunities for faculty and staff related to student mental health concerns, intersectionality, and challenges faced by Otero students.
5. Work collaboratively with other offices on campus to develop and provide a network of support services for Otero students.
6. Serve as a member of the Care Team and leads crisis prevention and intervention efforts.
7. Adhere to relevant ethical and legal standards of HIPAA, relevant professional bodies, and state boards.
8. Maintain timely records of services provided and maintain appropriate record keeping protocols.
9. Attend conferences, committees, task forces, and other meetings related to student mental health and wellness.
10. Demonstrate self-awareness of one’s own cultural beliefs, perspectives, biases, and privileges.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in a counseling-related field such as counseling or social work
• Licensed in the State of Colorado as one of the following:
• Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
• Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
• Licensed Clinical or Counseling Psychologist
• Proven training and experience providing culturally responsive and identity-informed counseling services to diverse populations.
• Experience providing short-term counseling to individuals and groups.
• Experience with crisis intervention and clinical consultation.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Dedication to working as a team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• At least 2 years of professional experience providing mental health counseling to college learners.
• Experience with solution-focused and brief models of mental health counseling.
• Experience working with neurodiverse populations (e.g. ADHA, autism spectrum, learning disorders)
• Experience with outreach and programming.
• Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with diverse student populations with special emphasis on first-generation, low-income, and students of color
• Educational philosophy in alignment with a small rural community college
SALARY:
$50,000 – $55,000
