Girl Scouts of Utah is hiring a full-time Membership Support Specialist.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MEMBERSHIP SUPPORT SPECIALIST

As a Membership Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing support to key administrative volunteers and troop leadership to ensure the effective delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience resulting in maximum member and volunteer retention. In conjunction with Recruitment, MSS’ help develop and execute effective recruiting strategies designed to contribute to overall service unit and council health. Some of the essential functions of the job include:

  • Provide excellent customer service and support resulting in maximum retention of members
  • Support volunteers through established touchpoints and conflict resolution procedures
  • Attend volunteer led meetings and planned activities
  • Actively work to develop recruitment of key administrative volunteers
  • Coordinate opportunities for raising awareness of and participation in Girl Scouts to the greater community
  • Ensure Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity to all members of the council and the community
  • Maintain compliance with GSU and GSUSA policies as well as federal and state regulations while ensuring that the organizational goals are met
  • Serve as a Girl Scout policy and procedures expert to advise and consult with volunteers
  • Model behavior consistent with the Mission and purpose of Girl Scouting
  • Maintain reporting documents as requested
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP SUPPORT SPECIALIST

  • Willingness to subscribe to the Girl Scout mission and movement
  • Associates degree or 1-3 years’ experience in volunteer/employee management
  • Highly organized, ability to multitask, handle pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Proficient written and communications skills
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends is required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight, take initiative, and be self-managed
  • Effectively manage multiple projects with conflicting priorities while meeting deadlines is essential
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with diverse people and volunteers
  • Technical computer skills in but not limited to: Microsoft Office Suite, customer management systems (Salesforce experience preferred), and social media
  • Have daily access to dependable transportation, valid driver’s license, compliance with the council’s policy of automobile insurance limits, and a driving record that meets the requirements for coverage of the council’s business auto insurance carrier.
  • Attend meetings and/or trainings at the Salt Lake Council Resource Center
  • The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit and/or stand for long periods and operate office equipment. The employee must be able to routinely lift 15+ pounds without assistance.
