We are looking for someone to join our team as the Member Relations Manager. The Member Relations Manager is a pivotal, high-visibility role at UFA that works daily with leaders in the upcycling movement. The ideal candidate is energetic and passionate about food systems sustainability, is systems-minded and a concise communicator and has demonstrated experience cultivating relationships across diverse stakeholders groups.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Member Relations Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational administration of UFA’s membership relations, including recruitment and retention of members, member services, and marketing of the membership program to ensure growth. Goals include but are not limited to increasing the number of new members, securing member retention and driving member adoption of the Upcycled CertifiedTM Program. The Member Relations Manager oversees the prospect and membership database, designs membership benefits and engagement opportunities, observes and analyzes member trends and feedback, and regularly communicates with members. This position has one direct report and is responsible for ensuring the quality of that team member’s work, while also providing training and mentorship. The Member Relations Manager has a broad understanding of the food and beverage industry and is passionate about food systems sustainability.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Membership Recruitment and Engagement (~50%):
- Develop goals and action plans with the CEO for membership development and retention, including corporate sponsorships.
- Maintain regular member outreach by developing, updating, and ensuring effective and broad distribution of information to current members and prospective members.
- Responsible for the achievement of membership program mission, goals, and financial objectives.
- Cultivate and steward key relationships with other associations and business organizations to ensure a steady pipeline of new member cultivation opportunities from a diverse set of partners.
- Gather good practice case studies across all membership for marketing and communication use.
- Strategically manage member accounts with Upcycled Certified products and ingredients and work cross functionally with Upcycled Certified Program Manager to drive adoption of certification programs within membership.
- Represent UFA at 3-4 industry trade shows and events per year.
Program & Service Development (~ 20%):
- Develop and implement strategies for retention of existing members and recruitment and cultivation of new members, including the creation of new member benefits and regular solicitation of member feedback.
- Create effective partnerships among UFA staff, Board and external stakeholders to start new initiatives.
- Oversee management and execution of new and existing programs, including networking, webinar series, membership committees, research dissemination, buyer-supplier tools, and other services as needed.
- Support brainstorming and implementing event plans and concepts and represent UFA at industry events.
Member Services Reporting & Oversight (~20%):
- Ensure that evaluation systems are in place related to goals and objectives and report progress to the leadership team.
- Provide analysis of existing programmatic and membership materials as well as membership retention rates and opportunities for improvement.
- Oversee all aspects of the new members’ application process ensuring that new members receive prompt and high quality service.
- Evaluate systems and procedures for serving current members and develop and oversee implementation of process improvements by drafting SOPs and leveraging automation.
Other Duties as assigned (~10%):
- Undertakes special projects as applicable to membership cultivation and retention
IDEAL COMPETENCIES, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Possesses a strong understanding of the food and beverage industry and preferably the upcycled foods industry to help educate and influence the industry.
- Self-driven with an accountability mindset and a strong sense of urgency when needed. Able to thrive in a highly independent fast-paced environment.
- Resourceful, meticulous & highly organized, with creative problem-solving skills.
- A natural connector and skilled networker.

- Direct report management experience.
- Systems competency in Google Drive and Microsoft Suite, proficiency with spreadsheets and presentation software, Slack, familiarity with customer relationship management systems such as Hubspot, MailChimp

COMPENSATION:
- This is a 100% remote, full-time, exempt position working Monday through Friday. The non-negotiable starting salary is $72,500 per year. Our benefit package includes:
- $250 per month health reimbursement
- 401k savings w. 3% match
- $50 per month home office stipend
- Unlimited PTO
