We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Mechanical Engineer within our Engineering team to help support our Adjustable Bed business. As a Mechanical Engineer you will have the opportunity to design, plan, organize, integrate, and complete engineering projects. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by having direct input on design and development and product improvements through VA/VE efforts. So, what will you be doing as a Mechanical Engineer?
- Work on VA/VE design improvements to current product lineup.
- Support sourcing, Programs, Operations, and Warranty projects.
- Design Adjustable bed base assemblies, individual components within the adjustable base. Prepare engineering models for the drafting process as well as perform FEA analysis.
- Responsibilities include product design improvements and cost downs, creating prototype models and drawings, creating production models and drawings along with models and drawings for tradeshow samples, and product testing.
- Follow project plans and assist in the implementation of a project. Work closely with the Project Manager and the Engineering Manager. Oversee and track the prototype process of the project through the shop, and testing activities per internal and external customer requirements. Be familiar with DFMEA’s and be involved in that process.
- Maintain project schedules to ensure timely completion.
- Review product drawings for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements.
- Evaluate design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
- Consult with senior level engineers on the best methods of designing new products while addressing the manufacturing process and any warranty concerns.
- Work in a team environment, contribute to other Engineers designs.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering.
- 2‐5 years of experience preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools.
- Demonstrate experience on a Solid Modeling CAD system preferably SolidWorks, along with Product Data Management (PDM).
