Job Summary:  

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Series and Digital Publishing, the Marketing Manager, Backlist & Carina Press will be a key member of the Harlequin Brand Group.  In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of strategies and plans for the extensive Harlequin Brand backlist catalogue and Carina Press Imprint.

 

The Marketing Manager is directly responsible for working with key stakeholders to develop, recommend and implement backlist and Carina Press product strategies.  To provide direction for, and manage execution of, product development, author growth initiatives and program plans based on reader/market insights, competitive activities, and sales performance.  This will be done to support the overarching Brand business strategies and to increase Brand sales and profitability of the North American market.

How to Apply

Duties and Responsibilities: Strategy
  • In collaboration with Senior Manager and key stakeholders, participate in the Brand backlist & Carina Press strategic business planning process. Responsible for development of core program and product specific components of plan.
  • Stay on top of emerging content and market trends & competitive activities to identify new evolutions of existing product opportunities that support franchise and audience growth in long-term.
  • With peers, manage development and recommend new program launches and conduct deep dive reviews where applicable, making recommendations on individual program strategies that carry a lens to unique channel opportunities. Present plans annually with key stakeholders to senior management and business stakeholders.
  Product & Project Execution
  • Direct the implementation of product and marketing strategies, plans, tests, and initiatives for assigned Brand products, programs, and projects, ensuring executional excellence on time, on strategy and on budget.
  • Manage team in the development of effective marketing plans to support key authors and collaborate with other managers to develop cohesive plans for shared authors and priorities that support growth objectives.
  • With Senior Manager, participate in the development of custom publishing plans and new product initiatives. Manage the execution and communication of plans to stakeholders, delivering strong sales materials and communication to aid sales with sell in.
  • Develop sales presentations and sales pieces to aid sell in for promotional programs. Participate in sales meetings.
  Analysis and Reporting
  • Monitor backlist and Carina Press imprint sales trends, leveraging insights to recommend courses of action to grow audience and sales for product responsibilities.
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly sales trend discussions on backlist and Carina Press, guiding direct report on insights and next steps. Present topline insights to Senior Manager and other meetings as required.
  • Responsible for monitoring backlist volume programs to ensure achieved of sell in and sales targets.
  Qualifications: Specific training or job experience required includes:
  • Marketing or Business graduate, with a minimum of 5 years working experience in a product management environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to influence without the power of hierarchy, and continually creating new, creative packaging/promotions for product.
