The Challenge
We are looking for an experienced marine mechanic to join our Ferry team in Manns Harbor to maintain and repair diesel engines and other marine equipment.
In this role you will be performing general/routine to moderately-complex assignments using the knowledge and skills you gain from on-the-job training working on ferry vessels. Guidance and instruction in the principles and techniques involved are provided by our marine mechanics, adjusting the degree of supervision given to you based on the scope and difficulty of the work.
What You Bring
- Working knowledge of the operating principles of diesel and gasoline engines.
- Experience with the operating principles of reduction gears and hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of the workings and repair of air and electric control systems.
- Knowledge of vacuum and pressure pump systems.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning equipment.
Notes
- This position may require travel.
- A drug test and fit-for-duty test is required.
Education & Experience
- High school/GED diploma, and
- 3+ years experience in the repair of diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, hydraulic, air and electric systems, and components, preferably in the ship repair or shipbuilding industry; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
