We are looking for a highly motivated Manufacturing Optics Technician to join our team!
This person will play an important role in the acceptance testing, deployment, and commercialization of technologies and products that will have a major impact on the medical and life science fields! This is an exciting opening for an experienced technician who wants to be part of team that makes world a better place.
This opportunity is a temp-to-hire position with eligibility to convert in six months.
How You’ll Contribute
- Build, align, qualify, and troubleshoot optical systems for production
- Develop an in-depth understanding of our instrument from a systems- to individual-component-level
- Collect measurements and other critical information during builds and testing
- Document device history (serial numbers, pass/fail data, deviations, etc.)
- Collaborate in the development of manufacturing instructions from existing revisions to assemble, align, optimize, and test optical components, assemblies, and sub-systems
- Suggest method and procedure improvements that facilitate the manufacturing process to ensure efficient and consistent production quality
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Associate degree in Engineering or Physics is preferred and equivalent experience will be taken into consideration
- 2+ years of experience testing and qualifying opto-mechanical assemblies
- 2+ years of experience aligning optical systems
- 1+ years of experience creating or using custom software for high precision measurements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative attitude and eagerness to work on a highly multi-disciplinary team
- Desire to learn complex mechanical concepts and apply them during assembly, alignment, and test processes
- Strong problem solving, validation and characterization skills; ability and willingness to adapt quickly to new challenges in a fast-paced environment
- Able and willing to adjust work schedule to meet production needs
- Hands on experience with hand tools and familiar with manufacturing best practices (5S)
- Willingness to learn the above through on the job training and/or self-study
