Job Description
Central Penn Business Journal and Lehigh Valley Business, both serving business professionals for over 30 years are seeking a Managing Editor to join our award-winning news organization covering business, and state government in central and eastern Pennsylvania. Organizationally, we are making a sincere effort to create an equitable, welcoming, and inclusive culture. What skills does the job require?
- Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or relevant work experience
- 5+ years of experience in the news industry with editing and management experience
- Knowledge of business and state government news coverage
- Strong computer skills and digital news management- including but not limited to: Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe InCopy, WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Reader and Acrobat, and internet research skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
What will you be Responsible for?
- Work with staff reporters and freelance contributors to conceive and execute insightful coverage for our audiences
- Lead a multimedia newsroom providing local, essential niche content online, email newsletters, blogs, social media and print.
- Edit and post stories and commentaries to ensure essential digital content daily
- Assist in the production bimonthly newspaper and digital edition
- Help develop new editorial products and expand coverage areas and audiences
- Collaborate with other departments and other organizations within BridgeTower Media
- Work with the Editor to carry out the vision of the organization
- Keep abreast of industry developments, audience analytics and emerging editorial technologies
- Help create compelling webinars and thought leadership event
- Various administrative duties
