What we are looking for in a Managing Director:

 

We are seeking a Managing Director to develop and direct the UK organization to be a foundation for European growth. The Managing Director will lead our UK organization to integrate into “a high-performance company culture” while driving in-region growth. You will implement business practices and discipline that ensure regional profitability that matches or exceeds the rest of company levels.

 

This position is based in our Harston, Cambridgeshire location and reports to the CEO.

 

As an experienced Managing Director you will lead, manage and drive the performance of the business in these areas:

 

1. Strategic leadership

 

  • Own the functions for the European region in Operations, Sales, Finance, Human Resources, Contracts, and Legal. You will be the senior site leader for all functions, but focus on regional growth initiatives.
  • Create and execute the overall business strategy that will maintain and grow revenue and profitability.
  • Set challenging and achievable targets and create actionable plans to meet or exceed the agreed company goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with the CEO to define and deliver long term growth strategy across EMEA.

 

2. Business development

 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business strategy to expand market share for in-building connectivity solutions in the UK and Europe. Grow European business to agreed levels within 3-5 years.
  • Manage product line variables to achieve company levels of gross margin.
  • Implement appropriate controls and discipline to avoid any unexpected liabilities or surprises.
  • Maintain a double-digit operating income business for EMEA.
  • Identify new business opportunities, market trends and potential areas for diversification and growth.

 

3. Team management and development

 

  • Lead a team of 20+ in our Harston office
  • Provide strong leadership coaching, challenge, and support to the team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

 

This job may be a fit if you have the following:

 

  • Proven track record of leading multi-functional teams to successful business growth
  • Experience in Pan-European sales, marketing and business management
  • Understanding of the levers and decisions to impact P&L
  • Previous Telecomm or hardware experience and technical ability to learn our technology
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, an advanced degree is preferred
  • Ability to be a cultural leader and motivator
  • Entrepreneurial spirit that with ability to inspire and lead team to disruptive solutions
  • Deep understanding of technologies and players in the in-building communications market and the ability to communicate and differentiate various solutions offered and available in the market
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to win over and influence customers to our solutions
  • Ability to travel as needed, 20-50%, including internationally
