We are looking for a highly motivated Purchasing Manager to join our team!
The Purchasing Manager will lead and manage the procurement team, responsible for the procurement of goods and services through the development and implementation of purchase strategy plans. This person will develop and maintaining strong relationships with our contract manufactures, core suppliers, and internal customers across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on company policy and best practices. This person will play an important role in the deployment and commercialization of technology and products that will have a major impact on the medical and life sciences fields!
How You’ll Contribute
- Maintain purchasing information, files, and records (e.g., requests for proposal, purchase orders, vendor files, etc.) for the propose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies
- Research contracts, suppliers, equipment including evaluation of new products for the purpose of analyzing information to determine product and/or service needs and availability as necessary
- Supervises assigned staff (e.g., employee concerns/problems, directing work, training, disciplining, performance appraisals, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring work assignments are complete and within department and company objectives
- Drive the development and adoption of strategic materials management strategies
- Optimize and effectively leverage resources. Drive continuous improvement
- Work closely with the cross functional stakeholders on the implementation of “best in class” processes
- Direct all inventory control activities to ensure that company business needs are met
- Drive effective change which directly contributes to reduced costs, increased revenue, enhanced efficiency, and other improvements company wide
- Establish and manage the department’s budget including capital expenditures, cost/benefits analysis, and ROI
- Manage procurement process in NetSuite
- Ensure procurements early involvement, provide guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement strategies and the usage of preferred vendors
- Work pro-actively with R&D to ensure, to the extent possible, their needs are met as they relate to material requirements.
- Develop and manage MRB process at site. Monitor KPI trends in MRB, ensure visibility of key data integrity and metrics and manage trends that could represent potential risk
- Negotiate, develop, and implement contracts with suppliers, inclusive of reviewing and redlining contracts and statements of work
- Identify, achieve, and report on savings and other KPI’s linked to supplier performance
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to investigate opportunities for synergies and rationalization of spend and suppliers
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
- Minimum of 12 years’ experience in procurement with experience in multiple commodities, technical background is a plus
- Has proven track record of leading a procurement team
- 2 years’ experience managing contract manufacturing partners
- Self-motivated, takes initiative and ability to drive closure on open issues with minimal supervision
- Has the ability to forge long term supplier relationships
- Exception interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects- prioritization, planning and task delegation
- Excellent computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint)
- Proficient in using PLM and ERP
- Critical thinking and negotiation skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
