Reporting to the Vice President- Human Resources, Strategy and Risk, the Manager – Organizational Effectiveness is focused on creating a culture within NLC that promotes both individual employee and organizational success. The position provides leadership, expertise and guidance in the identification, design, development, management, planning, and implementation of strategic initiatives that include performance management, learning and development, employee engagement, change management, diversity, inclusion and belonging, succession planning, team dynamics, and other elements that impact organizational culture.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership and expertise in the development and implementation of a comprehensive employee performance management program that contributes to the creation of a performance oriented culture through a knowledgeable and engaged workforce;
- Establish cross-functional relationships and partner with key stakeholders to assess business needs and priorities and their implications for talent and organizational effectiveness;
- Develop a talent management and development strategy, and associated training initiatives, which align with NLC strategic direction and priorities;
- Act as NLC’s diversity resource, providing advice and direction to create a culture that offers all employees a sense of inclusion, respect, and belonging;
- Oversee various employee engagement and feedback mechanisms that provide effective two-way, responsive communication between staff and management;
- Develop appropriate programs, policies, procedures, and tools that are forward-thinking, sound and based on industry best to promote individual and organizational success;
- Support and assist with the development and implementation of corporate and departmental strategic objectives, KPIs, initiatives and action plans, budget, risk assessment, and reporting;
- Lead organizational wide succession planning in keeping with NLC’s commitment to attract, retain and grow our own talent;
- Ensure communications plan is developed and implemented for strategy and other initiatives;
- Facilitate organizational effectiveness events/activities including team-building workshops.
For consideration as a potential candidate, the individual should possess the following qualifications:
- University Degree in Commerce or Business Administration, with a concentration in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or other related discipline;
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years of strategic human resource experience, preferably in organizational effectiveness (i.e. areas such as training/employee development, performance management, succession planning, leadership development, change management, diversity, inclusion and belonging and conflict resolution) – preferably in a unionized environment;
- A CPHR or CHRL designation and a Master’s degree in Business or Employment Relations will be considered assets;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and relationship building skills;
- Solid problem solving, analytical and decision making skills;
- Strong facilitation and organizational skills;
- Solid business, operational and planning abilities including the ability to think strategically;
- Strong consulting skills, including a demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence all levels of leadership in the design of organizational effectiveness solutions;

Salary: HL-23: $75,770 – $98,500 annually
