Your Role

As Metrix continues to grow and our industry is increasingly disrupted by technology and innovation, we’re looking for someone to contribute to our client-facing medical writing team.

 

We’re looking for someone who is an experienced consultant and project manager with a passion for communicating in a corporate setting. You’re interested in the learning and development field, get excited about consulting to clients in areas you’re not necessarily familiar with (yet!), and have an eye for all-things design. You’re business and technology savvy, solutions-focused, and hope to quickly grow your career by taking on increasingly complex project management and leadership roles.

 

As a Manager, Medical Writing & Learning Design, you’ll be leading projects in the healthcare space, writing, editing, and QAing scientific content, and managing clients, vendors, and project teams. You’ll have experience consulting to professionals in healthcare and pharmaceuticals and be comfortable working with clients (many of them senior at their organizations) across a range of other industries. You will have demonstrated problem-solving skills, and an aptitude for navigating ambiguity.

 

Through your client-focus and commitment to excellence, you will ensure that our deliverables help each client meet their objectives. You’ll have some experience managing direct reports, as well as mentoring your project teams. You do have experience medical writing, and while direct experience in the Learning & Development industry is an asset, it is not required.

 

You will need to be able to think on your feet, learn new content areas quickly, and have a passion for learning, training, and development.

 

What You’ll be doing

Consult and Build Relationships with Healthcare Clients

  • Consult with clients on the learning strategy related to their project needs, materials design, development, and deployment
  • Understand and identify each client’s requirements, and provide them with recommendations for learning, training, and development initiatives
  • Contribute to business development initiatives through identifying opportunities, writing proposals, and participating in or leading sales presentations
  • Lead project team meetings both internally and externally
  • Provide advice and solutions to client challenges and internally to Metrix Group

 

Conduct Front-End Analysis

  • Conduct front-end analysis (target audience analysis, technology assessment, content-audit, etc…) and use results to design and develop blended learning solutions
  • Conduct focus groups, subject-matter expert interviews, facilitate working sessions, and/or develop a survey as part of your needs assessment when appropriate
  • Write recommendations reports based on analyses
  • Identify the legal medical review process for content approval
  • Identify client-branding requirements (style-guide)

 

Design & Develop Learning Solutions

  • Manage your project team’s performance throughout the project life cycle (often managing multiple projects at a time)
  • Internally consult on and assist with the design and development of learning solutions for product and therapeutic areas, in pharma and biotech
  • Lead the creation of innovative design concepts, detailed content outlines, wireframes/storyboards
  • Identify graphics required to support content
  • Design and develop patient/physician perspectives
  • Ensure referencing is complete to client and regulatory standards

 

Implement & Evaluate Learning, Training, Development Initiatives

  • Develop implementation plans and materials for launch and rollout
  • Develop the evaluation plan and tools for the project
  • Facilitation of instructor-led and virtual-instructor-led materials as needed

 

Project Management

  • End-to-end project management, ensuring all project deliverables are accurate, consistent, relevant, valid, and up-to-date and meet client copy approval requirements
  • Act as a single point of contact for project leader in client organization
  • Oversee internal project team for both quality and compliance to the project
  • Follow the project life cycle; launch the project, clarify scope and deliverables, conduct project team meetings, design the learning solution, deliver the solution, and support client implementation and evaluation

 

Technology & Innovation

  • Continually build your expertise and demonstrate it through a range of channels, including internally by coaching team, hosting lunch & learns or other training initiatives, mentoring, etc… and externally by being “one step ahead” of client demands
  • Use strong Design Thinking and problem-solving skills to create human-centered learning solutions

 

Leadership, Coaching, and Collaboration

  • Mentor, coach, and inspire your direct reports, project team, and peers
  • Collaborate with other leaders/project teams working within the same client account to share best practices
  • Demonstrate visible commitment to Metrix’s mission, vision, values, and business goals; contribute to Metrix’s operations through leading internal initiatives to make us an even better place to work!

Your qualifications

  • Degree in the life sciences; graduate degree preferred
  • 3-5 years in a medical communications or medical marketing agency; experience coaching and managing people
  • Expertise and experience in project and client management
  • Relationship building skills; demonstrated history of building trust with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at the same time, and to collaborate in a high-performance team environment with demanding deadlines
  • Demonstrated skills in Learning Strategy, Critical and Design Thinking practices
  • Experience working with or consulting to large or complex organizations
  • Demonstrated ability navigating ambiguity and problem-solving capabilities
