Full-Time Manager, Lab Systems & Automation

Job Description

GSK is currently looking for a Lab Systems & Automation Manager to join our team in Cambridge, MA. In this role you’ll lead lab computerized systems and automation activities on the field. This role provides leadership in the execution of the activities and focuses to implement and maintain lab systems, automated systems, and applications in an ever-changing GAMP/no GxP/GxP environment in terms of laboratory science, regulatory requirements, quality/EHS standards, and GSK Vaccines transformation at R&D Global level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a group of Technicians (FSP) ensuring appropriate training and technical development is in place
  • Ensure Integration of standard and complex computerized systems in the network
  • Guarantee the appropriate compliance and Data Integrity required by business based on URS
  • Roll out the appropriate tools to manage data acquired by the equipment and ensure backup
  • Has a day-to-day on the field team leader responsibility to guarantee operations by resolving issues/requests through ticketing
  • Assures that technical solutions are adequate to business needs
  • Defines responsibilities and allocates resources to the different projects taking into account the departmental priorities.
  • Performs technology watch in the field of automated systems or software development

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor Science in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in management of IT or Automation team/project

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Good computer skills in excel, word, outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, MS Project, and statistics tools
    • Have knowledge of different operating systems (PC and Servers) in Windows, Apple, and Linux distributions
    • Comprehends databases, scripts, and data migration scenarios
  • Project management and change management.
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
  • High comfort level working in a diverse, ambiguous and a fast pace environment.
  • Ability to challenge and debate issues.
  • Ability to look at situations from several points of view.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate facts and data and develop an understanding of complex matters.
  • Strong analytical skills with drive to synthesize the story into an actionable set of recommendation
  • Deployment of Automated systems/Application including user requirements, analysis development of the solution in collaboration with suppliers, testing, validation, installation, training maintenance in domains such as Image Analysis, Liquid handling, robotic and/or Software applications
  • Is accountable in these domains of activity to deliver solutions and services to laboratory customers in the scheduled quantity with acceptable quality at the budgeted cost.
  • Ensures close relationships with all R&D labs in order to detect where productivity can be improved and to define short, mid and long-term business needs.
  • Defines the validation process for any new automated systems or IT application developed within the team, in compliance with Good Automation Manufacturing Practices and good IT practices
  • Assures that technical solutions are adequate to business needs
  • Defines responsibilities and allocates resources to the different projects taking into account the departmental priorities.
  • Performs technology watch in the field of automated systems or software development
  • Has a day-to-day team leader responsibility: recruitment, training, planning, and team autonomy development
  • Manage a team composed of FSP
