Full-Time Manager, Funding Operations

Job Description

The Manager, Funding Operations is a key member of the Global Client Payments team. This role will oversee operational functions related to client tax funding and be responsible for incoming tax funding processes, working with bank partners, supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, and customer inquiries. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Treasury Operations, the Manager, Funding Operations will also work to improve processes by participating in automation projects and initiatives.

*We’re opening this role to candidates located in commuting distance from our Durham, NC office as this will be a hybrid role.*

Job Duties

The general responsibilities for this position will focus on client tax liability funding operations, managing client banking information, and client communications.

  • Leads, inspires, and ensures ownership and accountability in a highly operational and analytical organization.
  • Leads cross functionally (Sales, Services, Operations, etc.) to identify opportunities and implement change throughout the organization
  • Responsible for managing the monthly Treasury Funding cycles across multiple business units and systems
  • Responsible for accurate and timely client tax funding
  • Responsible for measuring and communicating team performance against established goals providing guidance and course correction if necessary
  • Responsible for the management and resolution of AR/AP Accounts
  • Responsible for the integration of new Returns Business units and systems
  • Develops strong business relationships with high-profile, high-revenue customers to ensure a strong, long-term relationship with Avalara
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Ability to understand the conceptual basis of accounting guidance as well as the mechanics of execution

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • 5+ years of finance, corporate treasury operations, or accounting-related experience
  • 3+ years of operational management experience
  • 2+ years of customer service/communication experience is preferred
  • Experience successfully leading a high-performing team in a high-volume Treasury or Finance organization
  • Demonstrable sense of urgency to overcome obstacles and achieve measurable results
  • Ability to understand and communicate complicated information to clients in a concise, clear manner
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and composure under tight deadlines while delivering results
  • Ability to create reconciliations, reporting, and analysis utilizing Excel, SQL, or any internal tools
  • Must possess advanced MS Excel capabilities and be capable of marrying technical and business-level input and support daily operations
  • Aptitude or ability to utilize data mining software/tools (e.g., Monarch, Tableau, SQL, Micro Strategy, infogix, etc.) is highly desired
  • High quality control standards and strong attention to detail
  • Excels at Relationship Building
