Position Description: 

The Manager of Creative Services is responsible for working cross-functionally to produce a high-quality, on-time, on-budget product. The designer will work in a fast-paced environment and manage a small design team that is part of the larger Experiences department.

 

The Manager, Creative Services is responsible for:

  • Partnering with the Chief Experience Officer to create strategic direction and vision for the creative services team, aligning design initiatives with business objectives.
  • Developing team members and providing guidance and feedback to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • All project phases, including estimating, design, production, purchasing, proofing, and archiving.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with external vendors and freelancers to support projects as needed.
  • Participate in creative team brainstorming including messaging and design for Education, Programs, Development, Marketing, Touring Exhibitions, and Permanent Exhibitions to help ensure business objectives.
  • Receive, assign, and input all graphic design projects into database system and ensure proper recordkeeping.
  • Oversee the effective use of the digital asset management system (photo library) to ensure accurate uploading and categorizing of all new photographs acquired by the design team.
  • Communicating effectively with museum colleagues and vendor contacts.
  • Ensuring environmental design engages the target audience and contributes to a cohesive experience across various touchpoints.
  • Leading the design and production of 2D graphics for digital and print including marketing materials, social media and website graphics, reports, brochures, newsletters, fliers, ads, teacher’s guides, activity sheets, and invitations in keeping with the brand and design standards.
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating new techniques and approaches to creative projects.

 

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Visual Communication, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional graphic design experience, with a history of managing teams.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in environmental design, 2D digital and print design, and motion graphics.
  • Expert-level knowledge of print and large-format production processes, marketing campaigns, and creative, as well as the Mac operating system and Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat.
  • Understanding digital marketing platforms such as Marketing Cloud. Working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products.
  • Experience in AfterEffects a plus.

 

Status: Full-time,37.5 hours per week. Monday through Friday
