Full-Time Manager, Business Intelligence and Enterprise Data
Job Description
Position Overview
Responsible for the management and direction of the design, development, deployment and support of Business Intelligence systems and the Enterprise Data Warehouse used for enterprise-wide data storage and analysis. Directs and contributes to the modification of software and data applications or architecture to resolve issues and support future growth. Responsible for the installation, maintenance and upgrades for databases utilized for commercial off the shelf (COTS) and custom software applications managed by the IT department. This hands-on position requires high levels of attention to detail to ensure that systems needed by the organizations are fully functional and operating 24 x 7 x 365. This position will report to the Senior Director of Technology.
Essential Functions
- Leads the effort for the development of Business Intelligence solutions using tools such as the Microsoft BI stack including SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, and T-SQL stored procedures as well as MDX and PowerBI.
- Directs the installation, configuration and administration of SQL Server database systems utilizing database replication, Always-On availability groups and automated failover.
- Proactively monitors, tunes, and maintains databases from performance, capacity management and business continuity perspectives.
- Develops, tests, documents, and implements high-performing, scalable solutions including schema design, storage engines, indexing strategies, SQL tuning, ETL processes, stored procedures, and software applications.
- Helps develop multi-year strategies, roadmaps and plans for enterprise data information architecture.
- Participates in the definition of technical standards and guidelines that pertain to data systems and information use, security, access, and governance.
- Researches and evaluates new data system technologies for use within the enterprise and implement based on best practices to provide a reduction in maintenance and development overhead.
- Develops and manages effective working relationships with other departments, groups, or personnel with whom work must be coordinated.
- Manages, directs, and supervises assigned direct reports, including general leadership, planning, organizing, and reviewing performance.
- Serves as a coach and mentor to team members. Delegate tasks as appropriate.
- Manages troubleshooting and resolution of data support issues.
- Establishes and participates in rotating on-call schedule for 24 x 7 x 365 support.

Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or Associate Degree and two years of people leadership experience. Minimum of five years administering enterprise-wide database systems. Minimum of seven years of experience with MS-SQL writing stored procedures and database scheme design. Minimum of five years of experience with database administration including performance tuning, monitoring, high availability/ disaster recovery. Minimum of five years of experience with database reporting and analytics using Reporting Services, Integration Services, and Analysis services. Minimum of seven years of experience with Microsoft operating systems. Minimum of 1 year of experience working in an Azure Data environment, with knowledge pertaining on migration from on-prem to cloud data structures.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Possesses an understanding of information systems, data modeling, business intelligence, relational database design and knowledge of how to access multiple information sources for analytical purposes.
- Experience in developing ETL solutions for data warehouse loads and system integrations using SSIS Packages.
- Deep understanding of Data System Architecture and server-based programming or scripting languages such as C# or PowerShell.
- Ability to establish rapport and drive consensus and change at all levels of the organization.
