Full-Time Maintenance/Construction Technician – New Higher Pay!
Job Description
- Perform hands-on skilled technical work with routine construction, maintenance, and repair operations at facilities statewide.
- Develop and make adjustments to short-term assignments, schedules, and priorities.
- Perform maintenance, repair, and minor renovation work to electrical and plumbing in buildings, equipment, and utility systems.
- Service and maintain fuel system.
- Perform housekeeping, grounds, and vehicle maintenance.
- Draw working plans for minor renovations and repairs.
- Perform cost estimating of repairs and other projects.
- Operate water and/or waste water treatment plants.
- Participate in facility master planning, outside bid package development, and implementation.
- Review and comment on plan sheets from outside designers and contractors.
- Monitor and inspect contractor construction and renovation projects.
- Act as liaison to local officials and/or regulatory agencies.
- Participate in the overall management and policy making for the facility/agency.
- Inspect the facility/agency for maintenance needs and for safety hazards.
- Working knowledge of the standard practices and methods of electrical and plumbing services, general maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery, building codes, and all other rules and regulations governing repair, maintenance, and construction of facilities.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints, sketches, and schematics.
- Skills to train, direct, and supervise staff and establish/maintain effective working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to independently analyze and interpret policy and policies to solve problems and answer questions.
- Skills using tools required in more than one moderately-complex trade.
- Ability to operate common machine shop/woodworking power equipment.
- Skills to guide work of semiskilled and unskilled workers.
- Ability to read and interpret building codes.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strength to perform heavy physical tasks for extended periods.
- High School/GED diploma, and
- 1+ year of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
- We may require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal Technician.
