Job Description
Mail Processor I is responsible for opening and sorting customer remittances utilizing an automated mail extractor according to customer specifications and deadlines.
Requirements:
- Open, sort, and balance customer remittances according to bank and customer procedures and deadlines.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance on the mail extractor, which consists of vacuuming the machine, primarily the track, discarding paper shred, and emptying the trash receptacle which contains the empty envelopes.
- Meet/exceed the standard set for opening, which varies depending upon the type of equipment.
- Manually open any exceptions meeting/exceeding the standard of 275 items per paid hour.
- Utilizing an adding machine, balance multiple transactions and attach an add-tape to the batch of multies. Label batch as multies with appropriate batch header.
- Singles batch should be bundled in a manageable hand size and labeled Singles with appropriate batch header.
- Review unprocessed returns for quality – identify reason for returning to customer and wrap in Unprocessed Return Item Notification form.
- Prepare Employee Production Report as each job is processed, tally up at end of shift and submit to Supervisor for review/approval.
- Monitor and/or ensure compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations; including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering, in addition to, Bank operation policies and procedures.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned
Physical Demands/Conditions Requirements:
- Requires lifting up to 15 lbs. and the ability to stand for extended periods.
Education/Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements:
- H.S or GED preferred
- Position requires excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, basic adding machine skills, and ability to meet processing standards.
