We are looking for a Local Marketing Program Manager to support REI’s Bay area market. The Program Manager owns all brand engagement at the market level through demonstrated expertise of local customer insights, geography and the national REI Go To Market strategy. This job contributes to REI’s success through the planning and delivery of Local Brand Engagement and Impact marketing programming including local events, sponsorships and partnerships; community building efforts and philanthropy; earned media and public relations; local paid media and social media; virtual programming, influencer relations, and local marketing diversity inclusion practices within their specific market. This role reports directly to the Regional Manager, Local Marketing ensuring all local marketing plans ladder to Regional Local Marketing objectives.
In this role, you will:
Identify and develop new program opportunities and ensure program performance goals are met, including but not limited to:
- Leading with impact
- Increasing brand awareness and engagement
- brand relevance & authenticity
- customer lifetime value
- new customer acquisition
- member retention
- word-of-mouth marketing
- drive digital and store traffic
- connect Co-op-wide initiatives at a regional and market level
Some additional responsibilities include cost estimations, fiscal oversight of marketing budgets and forecasting, media partnership and other partnership development and management, contract negotiation, project management and delegation, management of local influencer relationships and partnership deliverables, public relations, program assessment and reporting.
Bring your passion and expertise:
- B.A. in Business or Marketing or equivalent experience
- 5 + years of experience in marketing, social media marketing, digital marketing, community engagement, B2B partnerships
- Prior experience with regional marketing programs, earned media, social media marketing, community engagement programs (digital media with events & partnerships)
- 2+ years of experience in managing budgets
- Ability and strength influencing, leading and collaborating with peers and remote groups to produce desired results
- Strong identification with REI’s customer service philosophy; ability to effectively resolve difficult customer issues
- Passion for preserving and recreating in the outdoors
- Actively participates and collaborates with others on one’s own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals.
- Flexible in one’s viewpoints and positions to support the direction taken by others at REI.
- Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities.
- Can create + lead a market plan and programming from start to finish: from strategy, to concept, to planning, to implementation, to reporting
- Considers the ultimate impact of decisions and actions on internal and external customers.
- Works smart by setting effective work goals, establishing priorities, and planning well in order to produce quality work.
- Executes effectively by using resources efficiently, meeting deadlines, and keeping others informed of work plans and progress toward goals.

- Mid-level PC skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Publisher.
