Full-Time Library Custodian

What You’ll Do
You’ll be the behind-the-scenes hero making sure every corner of the library shines and functions smoothly. Dive into diverse tasks that make each day unique.
- Interior Building Maintenance: Scrub and sanitize restrooms, keeping them well stocked. Manage spills and wipe down surfaces, from tables to light fixtures. Keep supplies stocked and equipment in tip-top shape. Ensure garbage and recycling are collected and disposed of properly. Handle floor care with finesse: vacuum, mop, wax, and polish with expert precision. Assist in setting up and taking down meeting rooms. Stay informed on and practice the latest in cleaning techniques and safety protocols.
- Building Security and Records: Maintain the security of the library, locking and unlocking as necessary. Handle deliveries and storage of materials. Keep detailed records of your work and communicate progress with the team.
- Exterior Building and Grounds Maintenance: Keep the library’s exterior tidy by picking up litter, cleaning walkways, and maintaining the overall appearance. Handle light groundskeeping duties as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; at least three (3) years of experience in a similar role.
- Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of effective cleaning practices, materials, and equipment. Skillful use of custodial tools and equipment. Independence and reliability in managing scheduled tasks. Physical stamina for lifting, walking, and standing for long durations. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to follow instructions and work well with others.
