Our Learning & Development (L&D) Team is a key function within our People & Culture Department. They work as part of the People Team to ensure a seamless experience for new and current staff, ensuring they have opportunities to gain the skills and knowledge they need to grow in their roles while helping the YMCA DLG to grow, as well. The team is responsible for providing a range of learning and development opportunities for employees and volunteers across the organisation, as well as growing our external training offer.
We are looking for a Learning & Development Coordinator to work alongside our Learning & Development Manager and other service delivery managers, to design and administer a rolling programme of core mandatory training, a programme of development opportunities for our teams and learning solutions that meet business needs. In this role, you will be fully responsible for coordinating the delivery of our core training programme, working with a range of sessional trainers, and for handling the administration of those training courses as well as our Reflection Practice Supervision (RPS) sessions.
Whilst you will be supporting staff to develop, we are keen to support your development too, and would support your own development in the role.
Hybrid role working a minimum of 3 days at our head office in Hove; Monday – Thursday 9am-5pm & Friday 9am-4.30pm. Some travel will be required to other YMCA DLG sites to support training provision and courses (running Monday – Friday).

We are looking for someone who ideally has previous experience in an internally facing support role (i.e., Learning and Development or HR), and a working understanding of the learning and development cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate). You will have some experience of supervising staff, contractors and/or volunteers. Ideally, you will be confident and proficient in using software packages (MS Office applications) and have experience of using databases, email marketing software such as MailChimp, and/or e-learning platforms or intranets (though training can be provided).
Most importantly, to be considered for this role, you will need high level organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate a range of projects, and prioritise work to meet deadlines. You will be a confident and capable communicator with the ability to engage and inspire through verbal and written communication, build positive relationships with colleagues, and use a professional approach to managing expectations.
