The Camas Police Department is seeking a Lead Police Records Clerk. The individual selected for this position will work under the supervision of the Police Captain. The position is full time, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and is represented by the Camas Public Employees’ Association bargaining unit, is covered under Civil Service Rules and is eligible for a full benefits package.
Primary duties this individual will perform include leading, training, overseeing and participating in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clerical support functions within the police department including record keeping, dispatching, typing, data entry, file maintenance, answering phones and responding to the general public; receiving, screening and directing telephone calls and performing a variety of technical tasks relative to a law enforcement agency. This position is responsible for the day-to-day functional supervision of the clerical section.
Candidates for this position shall have:
- Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by training in applicable computer software, administrative skills or other specialized area of assignment.
- Four years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience in a law enforcement agency.
- Technology skills including intermediate MS Office skills (Excel, Word).
- Ability to pass state and federal background checks for security clearance including extensive background check and polygraph examination.
In addition to the job description requirements, the preferred candidate will possess the following attributes: excellent customer service skills, good verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated organizational and decision making skills, ability to work with all sectors of the community – public, private, business, schools, and citizens, flexibility to work non-standard hours as needed, and the ability to work under the stresses and emotional strains of law enforcement.
IMPORTANT TESTING INFORMATION
- In the event there are 20 or more qualified applicants, a written test will take place
at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 22. Location TBA.
- If there are fewer than 20 qualified applicants, no test will be held. Applicants will proceed directly to the interview.
- If a test is held:
- Details regarding the testing process will be sent by April 19 via email to those applicants selected to advance.
- Applicants MUST be able to attend the test if invited.
- There is a required $20 testing materials fee which will be collected the day of the test.
