POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Network Director (LND) will partner with school districts, schools, business, civic leaders, non-profits and other key partners to ensure that 100% of students in the West Millcreek community graduate with a career plan within five years. The Lead Network Director will support this team to conduct quick research, develop, align and refine strategies, and coordinate implementation. The Lead Network Director will coach, mentor and work closely with Network Directors as part of this role and supervise at least one Network Director. The LND will:

  • Align the support of community members, partners and volunteers
  • Center student and family needs
  • Surface innovative ways to close opportunity gaps
  • Assist with developing and executing internal strategies and leading a team; be a collaborative leader within the network function
  • Lead the creation of result frameworks to guide networks
  • Collaborate with systems leaders and community members to address barriers
  • Regularly convene and facilitate external partners in working toward a common result
  • Represent the network role within the organization and to external partners
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES & FUNCTIONS

FACILITATOR: You model how to empower partnerships to facilitate local change.

  • Coach partners and staff in planning and facilitating productive meetings.
  • Build greater awareness of systemic barriers related to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and other factors impeding success while interfacing with partner leadership in a spirit of humility and courage.
  • Cultivate a culture of shared accountability and advocacy in all initiatives and activities.

SYSTEMS-THINKER: The Lead Network Director will seek opportunities to connect day-to-day efforts that support students to systemic levers for change. You understand how helping one child at a time is insufficient or unsustainable over the long term, and naturally seek connections to impact systems.  You consistently model this approach for your team:

  • Elicit patterns and strategize widespread efforts to positively impact youth and families over the long term.
  • Conceptualize initiatives that could be built around or benefit from corporate, foundation, government, bilateral organizations, or other partnerships.
  • Contribute to grant writing and reporting, donor cultivation, marketing efforts, advocacy efforts, presentations about our work, and other related duties as assigned.

CATALYZES COLLECTIVE ACTION: The Lead Network Director will lead a team to create multi-sector partnerships to address educational outcomes.  Using a “results accountability framework” the Lead Network Director will build a strong foundation for collaborative networks to ensure that their work centers racial equity and is of appropriate scope and scale to impact outcomes.

  • Lead the effort to seek perspectives and participation of students, parents, teachers, and people who work in nonprofits, government, and business.
  • Direct the research initiatives that have been successful in impacting community outcomes, compile promising practices and assess feasibility for the Salt Lake region.

DATA ORIENTATION: Skillfully weave relevant data into meetings with partners to help set the direction for their assigned networks. Creates measurement framework for networks to track both population outcomes and progress related to specific strategies.  Models and reinforces the importance of knowing what is working and what is not with his/her/their team.

BENEFITS

This is a full-time, exempt position with full benefits; $71,000.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 10 years of applicable experience in social impact, facilitation, project management, or equivalent academic experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with partnership groups or schools
  • Experience coaching and supervising team members to support their job mastery and professional growth.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite, data visualization, and other project management software.
  • An understanding of the culture and realities of historically marginalized communities in the Salt Lake region.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Speak and write fluently in a second language (especially Spanish) is a plus.
  • Has an understanding of and holds relationships in Millcreek, particularly neighborhoods in the western part of the community.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to perform the essential functions of this position. The employee is regularly required to communicate clearly in oral and written formats and must be able to transcribe, read extensively, and prepare and analyze data and figures. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work; however, there will be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, use of office equipment, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
