Qualifications
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS (TRAINING AND EDUCATION):
An equivalent combination of: graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major course work in business, public administration, social work or related field (years of experience can be substituted for the four (4) year degree on a year-for-year basis) AND four (4) or more years’ experience in the following:
- Written and verbal skills, preference for top spoken languages in Tacoma (Spanish, Vietnamese, Khmer, Tagalog, Russian/Ukrainian, Korean, ASL)
- Familiarity with Tacoma’s communities who prefer languages other than English
- Cross-cultural communication and content development for training and other tools
- Language access best practices
- Navigating equity barriers experienced by residents and immigrant and refugee communities who prefer languages other than English
- Project management
- Working successfully within a large, multi-department organization
- Basic understanding of municipal government preferred
- Working in a dynamic, diverse, fast-paced environment
