The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The expected starting pay range for this position is $96,275-128,000/year, based on experience and education.

In this role, you can expect to work the day shift, Monday through Friday, and be on site full time at Denver International Airport – Maintenance Center at 27500 East 80th Ave. Denver CO, 80249.

As the Landside Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of landside operations, including parking structures and lots, Pena Parkway, all arterial roads, traffic Incident management, and Snow removal. You will collaborate closely with various internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination and provide a positive experience for all visitors and users of our Roadway network and facilities. This role manages functional and/or operational area(s) along with contract compliance and project management within the division, represents the section’s positions, initiatives, and interests with a focus on the delivery of superior customer service, and ensures staff is sufficiently knowledgeable and dynamic regarding customer service protocols and performance expectations.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure goals and objectives are met, services are being provided efficiently and effectively, and takes corrective action when needed.
  • Oversee incidents and emergencies, supports other divisions and collaborates with DEN stakeholders to ensure correct resources are safely utilized during incident.
  • Project Management, planning, executing, and closing projects while effectively managing resources, stakeholders, and risks. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define project objectives, create schedules, allocate resources, and track progress.
  • Traffic Incident Management: Develop and implement plans to respond to traffic incidents, such as accidents or roadwork, to minimize disruption and restore normal traffic flow quickly and safety.
  • Quality Assurance/Contract management: Define quality standards and ensure adherence to them throughout the project or contract lifecycle. Conduct regular quality reviews and inspections to verify compliance with project requirements, processes, and deliverables.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of work procedures on annual and strategic plans. Recommends and assists in the implementation of goals and objectives for division and DEN.
  • Assists with the development and oversight of the Field Maintenance budget for operating and capital expenditures.
  •  Managing snow removal on roadways and arterial roads. Along with monitoring the application of winter product. Coordinate and collaborate other divisions during all snow events from pre-planning through clean-up. Will need to understand our Snow and Ice Control Plan (SICP) duties. Understands removal of snow off runways, taxiways, ramps apron, deice pads and cargo.
  • Represents Field Maintenance division in meetings with stakeholders and other city entities along with serving as a representative on committees for airport improvement. Builds and maintains positive relationships with Police, Fire, the Federal Aviation Administration, Operations, Airport Security, Airport Safety, Maintenance Control, Environmental and other agencies.
  • Oversees staffing, disciplinary actions, and terminations as required and develops objectives and work plans and monitors performance Hires and promotes employees and staff. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

About You

 

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:​

  • At least five years’ experience in the following:
    • Roadway snow removal experience
    • Usage of principles and methods managing and maintaining roadway infrastructure
    • Traffic Control set up, roadway closures and detours experience, TCS certification preferred
    • Contract management/Quality assurance in construction or roadway projects
    • Experience in a wide variety of construction, maintenance, project management and repair work on roadways
  • Strong leadership, and team building skills; Ability to guide a team with a positive attitude
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal and written
  • Ability to track analytical data

 

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field based on a specific position(s)
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience at the type and level of functional or operational management, which must have included management of professional individual contributors
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
  • License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver’s License at the time of application

 

FBI Background Check: FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.

Snow / Emergency Duties: Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees can be required to work extended hours and/or shifts.
