Are you passionate about the outdoors, maintaining lush landscapes, and communities? The City of Oshkosh wants you! We’re on the lookout for a dedicated and enthusiastic Landscape Operations Grounds Specialist to join our bustling Parks Department.
Position Highlights:
Dynamic Role: Work on a mix of independent and team tasks maintaining our city’s vibrant landscapes.
Variety of Work: From cemetery grounds to park spaces, you’ll handle equipment maintenance, landscaping, and general site upkeep.
Tools of the Trade: Operate trucks, tractors, backhoes, mowers, skid steers, and snowplows. Gain hands-on experience with top-tier landscape equipment.
Diverse Tasks: Engage in everything from tree and shrub care, preventative equipment maintenance, to snow and ice control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain cemetery and park grounds.
- Perform excavation and backfilling of burial spaces.
- Execute preventative maintenance for landscape equipment.
- Provide tree and shrub care.
- Conduct snow removal and ice control on city properties.
- Operate heavy equipment and machinery.
- Load and unload materials and equipment.
- Assist in the repair and maintenance of park and cemetery machinery.
- Participate in various landscaping activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical training in horticulture, landscape construction, forestry, or grounds maintenance.
Experience: Two years in facility/grounds maintenance, and small engine repair.
Licensing: Must hold or obtain a WI Class A CDL (no air brake restriction) within a year of hire.
