Full-Time Landlord Liaison
Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Supports and upholds Couleecap’s mission to fight poverty and promote self-sufficiency for individuals by helping to identify needs, mobilize resources, and provide quality services.
Maintain knowledge of local rental landscape, landlord-tenant law, and subsidized housing programs. Demonstrate the knowledge of the local social services system and the ability to effectively work with local agencies who are providing homeless services. Work collaboratively with all agencies to ensure effective communication and problem solving.
Attend local case conferencing meetings to ensure up to date knowledge of individuals and families who are homeless and who are attempting to secure housing. Coordinates with local service providers including Housing Navigators and Case Managers to select or locate the most appropriate unit based on need and availability.
Promote and market The Landlord Liaison Program using various printed materials, community presentations and other public information and educational activities. Conduct outreach activities for the purpose of developing and maintaining a robust Landlord Liaison Program.
Coordinates landlord and tenant Fair Housing, Landlord Tenant Law, education sessions and helps support Rent Smart programming and classes.
Builds strong partnerships with landlords who offer units with affordable rents. Build relationships with landlords and create positive interactions with case managers and tenants. Engage in lease negotiations.
Develops and maintains tools for landlords to provide availability of units. Manages a centralized hotline for landlords with concerns about tenants needing assistance, leasing availability or having questions about housing program vouchers. Assists with mediation of landlord/tenant disputes, helping to advocate for the landlord and assist them with a positive experience with the program.
Host landlord recruitment events.
Maintains inventory of available units with detailed information on size, location, cost, background check preferences.
Maintains knowledge of possible incentive programs for landlords such as weatherization, lead-based paint, or rehabilitation loans and grants, and/or manages any CCEH incentive programs. Connects landlords to incentive programs.
All other duties as assigned.
Reports data on number and type of units made available, used to house clients transitioning out of homelessness or needing to relocate due to affordability or other factors.
