The Challenge
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Technician serve as our regional laboratory lead technician.
In this role, you will:
    • Perform materials testing used in the construction of North Carolina roads and bridges.
    • Learn and conduct tests on soils, coarse and fine aggregates, aggregate base course, concrete, and other materials for NCDOT compliance.
    • Oversee junior lab technicians and communicate with Contractor and NCDOT staff to ensure compliance with NCDOT specifications.
    • Perform data entry into HiCams to generate test reports and maintain our in-house Excel database.
    • Assist with arranging daily work schedules for laboratory technicians at testing stations.
    • Maintain laboratory equipment inventory list.
    • Ensure all equipment is in good working condition, including coordinating routine maintenance, repair, and replacement.
    • Perform and upkeep required routine calibration of testing equipment.
 
What You Bring
    • Knowledge of techniques, practices, and testing procedures related to concrete, cementitious materials, aggregate, and soil materials.
    • Knowledge of quality management systems and the requirements of technicians and equipment.
    • Communication skills working with technicians, work units, or external customers on technical issues.
    • Computer skills using testing and office software, including Microsoft Office and HiCams.
    • Report and technical documentation development experience.
 
Education & Experience
    • Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field, and
    • 3+ years relevant technician-level experience; or
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
