  • Assisting with fieldwork activities on occasion
  • Preparing and reviewing risk assessments and procedures
  • Procurement of lab consumables
  • Liaising with and supervising instrument engineers to complete annual services or repairs

For the role of Laboratory Technician, we’re looking for somebody who has:

  • Aptitude for learning and developing within the team and the role
  • A methodical and organised working style, comfortable with repeat lab routines
  • Good teamworking skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with a collaborative and inclusive approach
  • A full UK (manual) driving licence (vehicles will be provided) – please confirm in your CV

Desirable Skills:

  • A good degree in appropriate subject or equivalent experience (e.g., Chemistry)
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting (for example, as part of university course lab modules)
  • COSHH awareness
  • Experience of preparing solutions and reagents to a high standard
  • Customer handling experience

If shortlisted, expect a very relaxed conversational style, 45-minute interview, which can be online via Teams or in person if preferred. We can also arrange a separate site tour if useful. No practical skills assessments required for this role.

If we’ve just described you, we’d love to meet. Apply now.  We’re looking to see highlights of any relevant skills and experience, together with what excites you most about the role and working for UKCEH.
