We are seeking a Junior Psychologist, who has a strong degree in Psychology, ideally with a MSc. Our Junior Psychologists conduct work-based assessments, which highlight the employee’s ability levels and assesses their strengths and weaknesses in relation to the specific demands of their job.
This is then concluded with a realistic action plan detailing how the employer can make reasonable adjustments (as required by the Disability Discrimination Act) to best support the individual.
The post holder will be responsible for providing these holistic work-based assessments, and the formation of the required report documentation and administrative tasks associated with it. Other duties that may occur could include the management of personal KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and other required tasks such as audits, service evaluations, and research.
The post holder will work as part of a wider assessing team, and will work with service users with a variety of diagnoses and specific subjective needs. The individual must both be assured in working individually and as part of a team, confident, motivated, and well organised. You should also be an excellent report writer and able to spot your own errors. Good working knowledge of both PC & MAC is a must-have, and excellent communication skills are essential.
The right candidate must be confident with regards to disability. The role will also include training clients in using assistive technology, software or hardware which they have been provided with.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct workplace assessments to explore and/or recommend potential solutions to aid confidence, efficiency and productivity in the workplace; minimising the negative effects of one’s disability/difficulties.
- Produce accurate reports/plans for the above individual, providing a justified recommendation with complete reasoning in the application for funding on behalf of the service user.
- Aid in the development of working procedures and methodologies, to continually develop the assessment process for the service user’s benefit.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers of support and equipment, to ensure the correct recommendations of the most relevant and up-to-date provisions are provided.
- Manage deadlines and personal KPIs for report/plan deadlines (set externally).

Must have own transport, and willingness to travel is essential due to the peripatetic nature of the role.

Education/Qualifications and Knowledge
A minimum of a 2:1 honour’s degree in Psychology
A Master’s (MSc) level degree in Psychology or a related field
Understanding of the needs and difficulties of those with disabilities in the workplace
Ability to apply this knowledge and problem solve within this work context
Further post-graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology or assessing

Skills and Experience
At least two years of experienced working with people with mental health difficulties, Neurodiversity, physical health problems, or other long-term conditions
High levels of communication skills
Ability to communicate and navigate sensitive topics with service users
Proficiency with Mac and Windows systems, as well as Word and other Office packages
Good oral communication skills based on fluency of the English language
High standards of report writing
Shares the company’s beliefs and attitude; and demonstrates this in their behaviour
Ensures that the organisational values of openness/honesty, compassion and empowerment are demonstrated by self and others
Addresses matters of concern in a timely manner, either directly; or raised with the relevant Line Manager as appropriate
