The Project Management Office (PMO) was created to provide statewide technology solutions for state and local governments in North Carolina. The IT Project Manager II will be responsible for working on IT projects for various State agencies in North Carolina and will be instrumental in enabling our customers to make a difference in the lives of North Carolinians.

Duties include, but are not limited, to:

• Leading, planning, directing and administering medium to large-scale information technology programs/projects and ensuring they are successful from a schedule, budget, quality and deliverable perspective
• Providing technical and business expertise to ensure projects are properly planned, appropriately monitored and managed, performed in accordance with statewide and DIT standards and practices, and are completed on-time, within budget, with the desired quality, and providing the expected technical capabilities and business benefits or results
• Providing supervision to direct the work of other project members to assure the best use of time and resources to meet project/program defined objectives and deliverables

• Demonstrated experience with designing and/or managing technical projects
• Experience with Project Management which can include process, procedures, documentation, checklists, and reporting criteria and project management related IT standards (i.e. ITIL, ISO, and PMBOK)
• Experience with conducting detailed planning, project testing, and/or performing risk assessments and their associated risk mitigation actions
• Experience with tracking software or other project management methodology tools (such as Predictive Cost Modeling, Knowledge Plan, Risk Assessment and Management Process (RAMP))

The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:

• Working knowledge of North Carolina state government organization, structure and IT oversight and management structure and mechanisms
• Agile, Scrum, Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications
• Experience managing enterprise-wide projects

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related IT field, Business Administration, Project Management, or closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in IT project management or technical project management related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
