Full-Time IT Field Technician

athletesunlimited – Posted by Athletes Unlimited Anywhere

Job Description

Athletes Unlimited is a new model of pro sports where athletes are decision-makers and individual players are champions of team sports. We literally change the game with faster play, and a new draft and team rosters every week, delivering next-level competition and engagement in which every moment counts. With women’s softball, volleyball and lacrosse as part of the roster and with basketball to launch in 2022, Athletes Unlimited will build the next generation of both athletes and fans.

Athletes Unlimited is looking for an IT Field Technician to help support our live sporting events in different locations around the United States. The bulk of work for this role will take place on-site during our league seasons, which range from 6 to 8 weeks in duration each and will feature one central location. Responsibilities are venue-centric with accommodations provided at a nearby extended stay hotel.

The IT Field Technician would arrive during the preseason and remain shortly after the end of the season to help the team set up and break down the venue, including: running cables; testing and updating laptops and devices; and general support for printer and WiFi access. In-season responsibilities include live event support with regular duties, plus troubleshooting and remote hands. Event days, including games and drafts, can require up to 12-hour days, with lighter workloads on non-event days. This role is full-time, remote when not in season, and reports to the CTO.

This position requires significant travel, up to 3 months at a time several times a year. Candidates must be comfortable with this requirement to apply.

Requirements

  • Comfort with extended travel requirements (see above)
  • Experience with live events (or similar time sensitive support experience)
  • Setup/update devices (Mac/PC/iOS)

  • 2-5 miles of walking on event days, including stairs
  • Able to move 30+ lbs
  • Preferred previous experience with the following:
    • Understanding of streaming technologies and techniques
    • Experience at startup or growth company
    • Video conferencing setup and support
    • Sports or sports scoring experience
    • File transfers and synchronization to cloud storage
