Full-Time Investment Manager – Loan & Equity Finance
Job Description
The Combined Authority: Our aim is for a stronger, cleaner and fairer Liverpool City Region. We work in partnership to use our devolved powers and funding to develop, fund and deliver projects in the best interests of our constituent local authorities, businesses, organisations and 1.6m residents. Since the formation of the CA six years ago, we’ve already made good strides.
The Team: The Commercial Development & Investment Team works to develop strategic projects and make investments in areas that have a real impact on our communities, such as the business & innovation ecosystem, economic infrastructure, town centre regeneration, culture and housing. Whilst we will always be operating in an area of “market failure”, where possible, our investments seek to generate financial returns to fund future economic development projects in the City Region. By using our devolved powers, we can make a real and meaningful difference to the lives of the people living and working here working within the framework of our Plan for Prosperity https://www.liverpoolcityregion-ca.gov.uk/…/plan-for-prosperity.
Business & Innovation Ecosystem: Put simply, we want to make the City Region a better place to start and scale a business. To that end, we want to enhance the effectiveness of the business & innovation ecosystem. This will include commercialisation of our world-leading research strengths, securing greater investment in our businesses, developing high-quality business support and promoting clusters to drive agglomeration. Importantly, we want to encourage good business practices. The global shift towards stakeholder value, not just shareholder primacy, is accelerating. The Liverpool City Region wants to be a leader in this area. The Good Business Festival is setting the tone of that conversation, and we want to ensure all projects receiving our funding reflect those principles for the benefit of our communities.
You: We are looking for people who are passionate about supporting the aims of the Combined Authority, who are self-starting, highly motivated, commercially minded and show a willingness to go the extra mile for the team. Our team comes from a range of backgrounds and experience, including team members with finance, legal and property development and management. This has been gained in a variety of private and public sector roles. We encourage applications from diverse backgrounds.
Role: We are currently looking for an Investment Manager (Capital Loans) with experience in commercial finance and property investment to help develop and invest in key business, innovation property and regeneration projects to deliver the current £150m Mayoral Recovery Plan and future priorities.
Examples of the types of projects you will work on include:
- Development of a digital film and production studios complex
- New Commercial Office Developments
- New Conference Centre Proposals
- Town Centre Regeneration projects
- Investment support for high growth companies
You will develop projects from inception through structuring, execution and into delivery, working as part of a team but also as an individual on your own initiative. You can influence stakeholders and build strong relationships, can demonstrate financial, legal and sector expertise, and will report to audiences that may range from the political, the professional and the public.
Benefits
As well as a competitive salary, we also offer a range of fantastic benefits, such as:
- 29 days’ holiday per annum, plus bank holidays and an additional 5 days upon completion of 5 years’ continuous service, plus good maternity, paternity, adoption, and shared parental leave
- Access to the local government pension scheme
- Extensive career and personal development training
- Choice of a staff Travel Card providing free travel within the Liverpool City Region on buses, trains and ferries, or a Fast Tag pass for the Mersey Tunnels with 470 journeys per annum
- Off peak Travel Card for your spouse or partner
- Cycle to Work scheme
At the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority we encourage candidates to discuss flexible working options at any stage of the recruitment process.
