Full-Time Intermediate Planner, Transportation
Job Description
- Support the development and implementation of the Peel Transportation Master Plan.
- Support the planning and delivery of major transit projects in the Region of Peel.
- Provide expert interpretation of planning legislation, policies and guidelines.
- Review and provide comments of development applications from a strategic planning perspective.
- Monitor, identify, analyze, and provide recommendations on transportation and planning trends, risks and opportunities.
- Prepare complex and specialized reports, documents, and briefings for senior staff, Council and standing committees.
- Lead small, medium, and large-scale transportation planning projects, and develop cooperative, collaborative and strategic relationships with internal and local municipal staff.
- Act as a key representative on internal and external working groups and committees, including chairing or leading assigned working groups.
- Respond to requests for information from other departments, agencies and the public.
- May be called to serve as an expert witness at Ontario Local Planning Appeal Tribunal hearings.
What the role requires:
- Masters or Honours degree in planning or a related field plus expert knowledge and further specialization in transportation planning with a minimum of five years of experience in a planning position or related field. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
- Expert knowledge of transportation planning matters including land use planning, growth management, transportation policy planning.
- Expert knowledge of applicable legislation, plans and policies of all levels of government.
- Knowledge of best practices and guidance related to goods movement, sustainable transportation, Vision Zero would be considered an asset.

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton, ON worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
