Title: Interim 10th Grade Program Manager

Department: SEO Scholars, High School

Reports To: Director of Program

FLSA: Exempt

Compensation: $68,000 – $72,000

Start/End Dates: July 24, 2023-January 24, 2024

 

LOCATION/HOURS

This is a temporary, hybrid position based out of our San Francisco office location. It is expected that some duties will be performed on-site, and some remotely, with the understanding that government and public health guidelines will determine the extent to which it is safe to carry out in-person and onsite activities.

All candidates must be within commutable distance of SEO’s offices at Three Embarcadero Center Promenade Level, Suite P-1 San Francisco, CA 94111 upon hire. 

 

Weekly Schedule: Monday- Friday (July-August) Tuesday – Saturday (September-January) July-August

Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm September-January

Tuesday-Friday 11:00am-7:00pm Saturday 8:00am-4:00pm

Term: July 24, 2023-January 24, 2024

Position Overview & Responsibilities

SEO Scholars High School Program Managers are essential to the continued success of our Scholars Program. As an Interim Program Manager you will be responsible for the advisement and performance of a cohort of 60+ high school sophomores. Through group facilitation, workshops, community circles, class observations, and 1-on-1 advising, you will help Scholars develop holistically. Beyond ensuring a rigorous academic environment, you will be tasked with effectively building the academic and socio-emotional foundation to successfully navigate high school, college, and career, including but not limited to our Scholars’ academic mindsets, effective study habits, awareness of identity, and SEL skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and implement SEO Scholars programming on Saturdays, after school, and during the
  • Create and nurture an inclusive environment that encourages intellectual curiosity, academic excellence, and college readiness.
  • Provide academic advising to all Scholars in their assigned cohort through academic advising hours, conduct meetings for students and parents, and meet with Scholars 1:1 or in small
  • Monitor the performance and engagement of all Scholars in assigned cohort; track and analyze Scholar attendance, assignment completion, assessments and grades in SEO Scholars classes, high school courses, community college courses, and standardized test
  • Leverage data to develop advising strategies that provide socio-emotional guidance, advising, and support to ensure Scholars’ successful completion of the program.
  • Facilitate instructor check-in meetings to gather information about Scholar performance and advise on action plans to support Scholars.
  • Collaborate with 9th and 11th grade staff to transition Scholars into and from the 10th grade each
  • Foster and maintain relationships with parents, school partners, volunteers, and corporate partners.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and supervision of occasional trips (e.g. college tours).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Direct experience working with high school-age 2+ years’ public teaching experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in student coaching and advising, including interfacing with parents and
  • Evidence of progressive career growth within roles increasing in responsibility and

Core Competencies & Skills

  • Demonstrated passion for closing the opportunity and academic achievement gap at the high school and college level for first-generation and historically marginalized student
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to clearly and effectively present content in a public forum, engage in active listening, and command the attention of large groups of students.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be practiced building professional relationships and delivering constructive, honest and productive feedback to Scholars and family
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel and reporting skills with an affinity towards data-driven
  • A proven background working with families and within communities reflective of SEO’s scholar population with the combined lived and learned experience to effectively apply a genuinely empathic, race intentional, and inclusive lens to both relationships and work
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is highly preferred; other languages skills are welcome!
