Full-Time Inspector, Pollution Control
Job Description
- Review industrial sewer charge appeals, sanitary discharge approvals and administer the surcharge and compliance agreements.
- Provide technical advice regarding regulations and legislation. You will lead meetings with external partners, agencies and staff.
- Conduct abatement meetings with noncompliant industries.
- Prepare daily, monthly, annual and disclosure reports and act as an expert witness as required.
- Mandatory participation as Duty Spills Coordinator on a rotating basis and assist in the annual update of the Public Works Emergency Plan.
- As a Provincial Offences Officer, conduct investigations for the prosecution of offenders of the sewer use by-law in consultation with the Supervisor, Pollution Control and Regional Legal Counsel.
What the role requires:
- University Degree in science or related field, or Chemical Technology Diploma with a Certified Engineering Technologist designation.
- Three (3) years related experience. A combination of relevant education and work experience will also be considered.
- Strong public relations, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Strong report writing skills with a keen eye for attention to details.
- Strong administrative skills and proficiency with MS Office.
- Valid Class “G” license in good standing.
- Bylaw enforcement experience would be an asset.

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 3515 Wolfedale Road worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week (Rotating 24 hour on-call schedule)
