Full-Time Building Systems Inspector
Job Description
The City of Oshkosh is searching for a full-time Building Systems Inspector.
This position ensures public protection, safety, health, and well-being by
performing inspections, enforcement, and related functions necessary to
ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and City codes and
ordinances. This highly technical position involves the on-site inspections of
building construction and mechanical systems for new and existing
properties within the city of Oshkosh. Work is performed with a high degree
of independence in the field and decisions within areas of responsibility
are typically made independently.
All work requires knowledge of building, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical
methods and practices and is controlled largely by code provisions and
standard practices within the limits of an inspector must use
considerable independent judgment and discretion.
Required Education and Experience for Inspector:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- State Certification in UDC Building, UDC HVAC, UDC Electric, UDC
Plumbing - One or more of the following State of WI certifications: Commercial
Building Certification, Commercial Plumbing Certification or State of
WI Licensed Master Plumber, or Commercial Electrical Certification
or State of WI Licensed Master Electrician. - Minimum of three (3) years of building construction or inspection
experience. - Valid Driver’s License.
This position is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position with a full benefits package. Pay ranges from $30.91 – $42.38 per hour.
