SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The I-BEST Navigator will fill a lead role in Basic Education for Adults (BEdA) programming that assists students in moving from basic education classes into college coursework. This position will provide support services for existing I-BEST (Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training) programs. The position provides internal and external marketing for I-BEST programs, recruits students, provides general advising to basic education students interested in pursuing college programs, and connects students with college services such as tutoring, Opportunity Grant, BFET, and financial aid. In addition, this position advises instructional leadership on opportunities for further I-BEST program development, and on program scheduling. This position reports to the Dean of Instruction – Basic and General Education.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Conduct program outreach and recruiting through presentations to on- and off-campus groups
• Organize and deliver quarterly presentations on college transitions programs to students in upper-level ELL and ABE classes
• Hold individual and small group information sessions to answer questions about college transitions programs
• Design I-BEST, bridge programming, and general transition promotional materials
• Assist with the maintenance of the I-BEST webpage advertising the range of program services
• Use quarterly results from college data to contact potential candidates for transitions programs and schedule advising appointments
• Communicate with instructors and interested students as needed after quarterly presentations and in follow-up to individual requests for information
• Strengthen and maintain relationships with internal and external campus partners to facilitate program coordination, information exchange, and the expansion of partnerships.
• Arrange CASAS testing for students to determine program eligibility
• Assist students in completing BEdA intake and college admission application, add/drop forms, and all other paperwork that may be required (OG, BFET, FAFSA, etc.)
• Assist degree-holding second-language students with accessing resources that evaluate their academic credentials and work experience and allow them to quickly re-enter the college system and the workforce
• Provide advising for students in I-BEST programs including developing academic plans for students
• Coordinate wrap-around services for student success such as transcript and credential evaluation, financial aid, Opportunity Grant, and BFET by acting as program liaison with other campus departments
• Collaborate with the Assessment Center and general advisors to help identify students who are eligible for I-BEST
• Remain informed and current regarding all support services offered on campus
• Maintain student records to meet BEdA program requirements
• Communicate with instructors regularly about program needs
• Collaborate with instructors to determine student progress and support any needed interventions in order to increase student completion
• Assist with grant writing
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in ESL/ELL, adult education, linguistics, or related field required
• Two years of recent college teaching, program support, or navigation experience required; experience with I-BEST or other transitions programming preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students, staff, and community from diverse backgrounds and a commitment to a culturally diverse work environment required
• Demonstrated ability to serve successfully as part of departmental and cross-departmental teams required
• Experience with scheduling, with implementing curriculum, and developing student support services preferred
• Demonstrated familiarity with online and print marketing material development preferred
• Ability to write grants and program proposals and network with private and public agencies preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills

Compensation & Work Schedule Salary is $5,507 per month. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position set to begin September 1st, 2023.
