Full-Time Hydraulics Engineering Supervisor – NEW HIGHER SALARY!
Job Description
- Lead Hydraulics team development and training, and manage team activities to meet goals, project quality and compliance.
- Assign, scope, and review advanced Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling and design, hydraulic planning reports, risk assessments, resiliency assessments, final hydraulic designs, watershed hydrology modeling, riverine hydraulic modeling, bridge and culvert hydraulic reports, stormwater management plans and floodplain compliance reports.
- Lead or participate in H&H storm response and recovery, drainage investigations, stormwater control measure design, coastal hydraulic modeling and design assessments, hydraulic guideline development, digital CAD model development, development of stormwater best management practices, field scoping attendance and participation, research and development, and training.
- Thorough knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic design practices, riverine modeling, FEMA and stormwater regulations, FHWA and AASHTO guidance as it relates to hydraulic design and the transportation facilities.
- Considerable knowledge and understanding of concepts, practices, and theories used in hydrology and hydraulics and the ability to use it in practice.
- Experience reviewing engineering work of engineering firms and assigning task orders to engineering firms to meet established goals while ensuring project quality and compliance.
- Advanced computer skills in advanced Hydraulics modelling software, web-based GIS applications, Microsoft Office, MicroStation, PDF viewers, and editors.
- Experience applying engineering principles to complex design situations and making sound recommendations and decisions using guidelines, performance metrics and sound engineering judgement.
- Experience supervising employees, contractors, and/or consultants.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility to work well leading a group with limited oversight.
- Consulting skills to work with others engaged in drainage studies and complex hydraulic design situations.
- Ability to develop or review and scope the creation of informational products.
- Management skills to lead hydraulic design projects; plan, develop and implement short-term strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and
- 5+ years of hydraulics engineering experience, including
- 3+ years of management experience; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Candidates registered as a Professional Engineer in North Carolina.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer with the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
- Occasional overnight travel is required.
- Field work may require traversing steep terrain, thick undergrowth, working around open water, near traffic, and in adverse weather conditions.
