Job Summary
Inspects, maintains, and repairs environmental control or refrigeration equipment to ensure proper operation of equipment within an assigned facility. May direct the work of other staff performing routine maintenance and repair functions. This position is also responsible for trouble shooting of building mechanical problems, identifying, correcting, reporting, and communicating building operational and maintenance needs to other trades and units, performing scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance on equipment, and ensuring satisfactory operation of building systems to meet the programmatic and energy conservation needs and objectives of the building.
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum of 3 years of experience related to performing the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC mechanical systems
• Ability to lift to 60 lbs. unassisted
• Ability to use ladders and aerial lifts to 60 feet while wearing fall projection
• Availability to work on weekends or after business hours, as necessary. Generally rotating including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
• Evidence of attending a 2-year college or technical school with a certificate in HVAC and/or similar applicable training as received in a military service school
• Possess Windows based computer navigational skills and or evidence of knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management systems
• Basic electrical and plumbing skills with troubleshooting and repair experience
• Working knowledge of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and State of Wisconsin safety regulations
• Basic small engine knowledge and troubleshooting experience
• Evidence of ability to interact positively and professionally with the campus community, including students, building managers, academic personnel, and craft personnel, in a diverse work environment
