The HR Specialist will partner with key stakeholders on benefits, payroll, and general Human Resources administration. This position will also have the primary HRIS systems administration responsibilities for on going maintenance, configuration, and customization for all modules. Additionally, this role supports special projects in support of the overall HR function.

HRIS Systems Administration:
- Maintains optimal function of the HRIS, which may include customization, configuration, and ongoing maintenance to applications, systems, and modules.
- Provides technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to HRIS users.
- Collaborates with HR leadership and HR staff to identify system improvements and enhancements; recommends and implements solutions.
- Manages permissions, access, personalization, and similar system operations and settings for HRIS users.
- Programs custom functions and documentation such as automated queries and reports.
- Compiles or assists with the creation of complex data reports for the HR team.
- Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in HRIS providers, vendors, and technology
- Responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate onboarding of all new employees to include benefit and payroll documentation via HRIS system.
Benefits Administration:
- Administration of all employee benefit plans (medical, dental, FSA, HSA, Cobra, 401k, STD/LTD/Life), ensuring compliance of all plans with Somos policies and federal/state regulations.
- Maintain updated required benefits documents.
- Administration of the annual benefits Open Enrollment process.
- Review all benefit invoices and resolve discrepancies prior to submitting for approval.
- Develop and lead ongoing benefit awareness education initiatives.
- Coordinate and facilitate Leaves of Absences in accordance with Somos policies and federal/state regulations.
- Provide support and administration of 401k changes, annual compliance audit and payroll confirmations.
Payroll Administration:
- Processing of biweekly payroll and all off-cycle payrolls for 130 employees in 15 states; reconcile and ensure accuracy of all earnings & deductions.
- Responsible for the coordination efforts between human resources and finance to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data, including review/distribution of detailed reports and quarterly tax packages.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll laws; work closely with Finance and legal to establish new state registrations and payroll tax set up as needed
- Establish/maintain employee records; ensure that employee changes are entered correctly and on a timely basis; review changes for proper authorization and adherence to federal/state/local regulations.
- Responsible for all year-end payroll activities in preparation for issuing W-2’s, accurate tax filing and PPACA forms.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and tax questions.
General HR:
- Assist with annual salary-planning efforts, complete salary and other benchmark surveys, as requested.
- Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, is the primary project lead on the annual employee retreat.
- This position supports operational excellence for the HR function and, as a result, will also include basic administration support duties.
