Full-Time Human Resources Generalist

Job Description

The Human Resource Generalist will be responsible for daily human resources functions such as recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, investigations, conflict resolution and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and with the collective bargaining agreement.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Interpret Collective Bargaining Agreement provisions and respond to employee and labor relations questions, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Assist in planning and executing employee racial justice and morale and engagement initiatives.
  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, etc.
  • Assist in posting, recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Implement onboarding and training program.
  • Assist in resolving advanced issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, discrimination, and situations involving interpersonal conflict in the workplace.
  • Attend and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Support in the gathering of documentation for complaints, grievance procedures, and arbitration hearings.
  • Assist in the Administration of Benefits.
  • Coordinate, maintain records and assist supervisors with performance and talent management initiatives.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting on ADP Workforce Now as needed
  • Process payroll when Payroll and Benefits Specialist is absent.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills & Competencies:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and 3+ years of human resources experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous work experience in a unionized environment

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn ADP Workforce Now.
  • Proficient with report writing.
