Job Type: Contract

Contract length : 06 Months

Summary:

Under general direction, the Compensation Consultant provides analytical and consultative services on compensation-related matters and assists in the day-to-day administration of the compensation department. Contributes to the development, implementation and administration of employee compensation plans, programs, policies and procedures that effectively meet business needs and organizational goals. Conducts a variety of research and analyses and prepares summaries and recommendations for leadership review.

Essential Functions:

The essential functions listed represent the major duties of this role, additional duties may be assigned.

Consultation

  • Provide analytical and consultative services and solutions regarding compensation matters for assigned client groups.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with client groups and HR Business Partners to proactively address customer needs, negotiate delivery commitments and ensure follow through.
    • Work with management to create formal job descriptions; conduct job evaluations and market pricing for all positions (up to VP level) using job evaluation software in addition to other internal and external resources.
    • Make grade, exemption status and salary structure recommendations and communicate to leadership. Manage appeal process for requesting managers/leadership.
    • Includes job analysis/evaluation resulting from large department reorganizations.
  • Consult with and educate management and employees on the interpretation and practice of compensation-related policies and procedures.
  • Assess competitive labor market trends and provide input on total cash compensation packages for the purpose of retaining employees and recruiting candidates

Program Development

  • Support annual Program Development initiative (annual salary structure review process based on receipt of new survey data) including company position matching, validation and analysis of market data, trends, etc. to continuously evaluate internal equity and external competitiveness; develop recommendations to adjust salary structures in response to changing organizational needs and market values
  • Perform market studies and other types of best practice research and benchmarking to develop recommendations for the implementation of new programs, modifications of existing programs and/or recommendations for the resolution of client needs

Administration

  • Contribute to the development, implementation and administration of compensation/recognition programs.
  • Advise management on compensation actions for employees; review proposed salary actions to ensure compliance with established guidelines and policies.
  • Conduct equity research/analyses on scheduled and ad hoc basis to ensu.re employees are fairly and equitably compensated; present findings and recommendations to leadership.
  • Lead and/or participate on project work, including strong emphasis on process improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and play key role in compensation audits to ensure corporate and legal compliance.
  • Participate in the administration of performance appraisal and salary administration programs, reviewing changes in wages and salaries for compliance to policy.
  • Develop and maintain compensation desktop procedures; may also update related corporate HR policies.
  • Make decisions and recommendations based on a combination of analysis, knowledge, experience and judgment.

Required Work Experience

  • 4+ years related work experience

Education Level

  • Related Bachelor’s degree or additional related equivalent work experience

Additional Required Qualifications:

  • Experience working with MS Office, including strong Excel skills
  • Strong analytical experience and critical thinking skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • CCP – Call Center Professional
  • Experience working with compensation/market pricing software
