QUALIFICATIONS FOR HR SPECIALIST

Minimum Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration or a field closely related to the position.
  • Two (2) years of work experience performing professional level human resources duties including researching, interpreting, and making recommendations based on HR policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Public university experience providing human resources support and coordination.
  •  Experience in documentation, training, search and hire practices, visa processing, and/or appointments processing.
  • Project management training and/or experience working on HR information systems projects.
  • Professional HR certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven track record of customer service.
  • Results oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communications skills, the ability to interact with a broad array of internal and external constituents, and the ability to concurrently manage multiple complex tasks.
  • Working knowledge of University of Illinois business and human resources policies and procedures.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration or a field closely related to the position.
  •        Three years of experience performing professional-level human resources duties.
  •        Demonstrated experience interpreting and making recommendations based on Human Resource policy.
  •        Experience providing human resources support and coordination in a University setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Master’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Administration, or a related field.
  •        Experience in documentation, training, search and hire practices, visa processing, and/or appointments processing. Project management training and/or experience working on HR information systems projects.
  •        Professional in Human Resources or related certification strongly desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  •         Proven track record of customer service.
  •         Results oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  •         Must demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and possess a strong commitment to the concept of shared services.
  •        Possess excellent interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communications skills, the ability to interact with a broad array of internal and external constituents, and the ability to concurrently manage multiple complex tasks.
  •        Working knowledge of University of Illinois business and human resources policies and procedures.
  •        Proficiency with at least 2 of the following HRIS systems used at Illinois: Banner, HR Front-End, HireTouch, Tracker, and Engineering my.dot applications.
