The Organisation

Our client is a well-known professional membership body undergoing a period of rapid transformation, and the HR department is at the heart of it all. With constant evolution and growth at the organisation, they are looking for an HR Operations Manager to join their HR team and help drive change, manage a dedicated team, and support their employees on this exciting journey.

Key Facts:

  • Full time permanent contract
  • Starting salary of up to £60,000 per annum + great benefits
  • Hybrid: home-working, blended with minimum 2 days per week (Monday and Wednesday) in London office

The Role

The purpose of this role is to proactively deliver an effective and efficient HR Operations function, providing timely, comprehensive and value adding HR service throughout the employee lifecycle, delivering clear measurable results.

As an HR Manager, you will coach and mentor a new team of dedicated professionals. This isn’t a hierarchical role; it’s all about teamwork, mentorship, and empowerment.

You will be responsible for a variety of HR functions, from overseeing recruitment and the starter and leaver process, internal movements and payroll.  You will need to be comfortable with managing these manual processes and have a keen eye for detail.  You will be responsible for ensuring the data on the HR system is maintained accurately and in presenting people data in various forms including the monthly HR Dashboard.

The major responsibilities of the role are to:

  • Manage the effective and accurate delivery of all HR transactional processes across the employee lifecycle, ensuring they are fit for purpose and delivered with accuracy and within an agreed timeframe
  • Work in collaboration with HR colleagues and other stakeholders to support achievement of the business plan and cultural aspirations through organisational design, providing advice and challenge as necessary
  • Drive consistency of approach to attract, develop, and retain existing and future talent to support the delivery of current and future organisational plans
  • Manage all first-line HR enquiries, including but not limited to performance, sickness absence, annual leave, family leave, flexible working, company benefits and other HR policies. Provide accurate and timely and appropriate advice, guidance and information to managers and colleagues
  • Create a cross organisational culture that puts the customer at the heart of every choice.

The Successful Candidate will have:

  • Experience of managing HR operations, in particular with a new team
  • Experience of advising on people issues, dealing with a range of complex employee relation cases, leading change and managing restructuring (OD) projects.
  • Expert knowledge of HR policies, processes and procedures and how good operations management helps an organisation to realise its potential.
  • Flexibility to respond to the dynamic demands of a business that is going through a wide-scale business and cultural transformation.
  • Experience of developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • Ability to motivate and develop the HR Operations team and a commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Experience in implementing new HR systems would be desirable
  • Whilst this is not a Business Partnering role, experience in this would be an advantage as you will work closely with managers and influence change.

Professional Qualification Requirements

  • CIPD or equivalent level of experience, training and knowledge.
