About the Role:
Reporting to the Global Talent Manager, in this 13 month contract position, the Human Resources Generalist (internally known as Talent Partner) is ultimately responsible for providing superior human resources support and guidance to the staff in their region, by partnering with the business on a variety of areas, including recruitment, benefits, payroll, diversity and inclusion, health and safety, employee relations and performance management.
In this hands-on hybrid-remote role, based out of the Toronto Ontario office, the incumbent will partner with the Global Talent team and hiring managers to provide accurate guidance, documentation, support and excellent customer service.
What You’ll be Doing:
- Employee Life-Cycle: Create records, compile reports and ensure employee electronic files are up-to-date in the HRIS system (Workday), provide support with respect to Talent systems, assist in enrolling and maintaining employees in applicable benefits programs, prepare payroll reports for various regions; assist in employee offboarding, including conducting exit interviews, track and follow up on employee immigration status’, visa and work permit expiries, manage Talent email inboxes and respond to support tickets for the region.
- Performance Management: Coach Managers on conducting various conversations and talent assessments aimed at reviewing employee performance; partner with Managers to empower them to make appropriate and effective decisions; consult with Global Talent Manager on disciplinary issues, following up as appropriate.
- Talent Services: Provide regional legislative updates for Global Talent Team; ensure compliance with all Talent related policies and procedures (i.e. health and safety, employment standards and legislation compensation and benefits, recruitment and hiring practices, etc); contribute regional perspectives to Global Talent initiatives; assist in the development/updating and implementation of staff policies and procedures, update the Employee Handbook as necessary.
- Recruitment: Partner with hiring managers through all stages of the recruitment process, conduct recruitment planning meetings to inform on best practices and processes; ensure support staff are effectively onboarded; perform local contract administration; maintain Talent related systems;
- Talent Administration: Assist with the administration of the annual reviews and salary increase process, and regional benefits program;
- Talent Agency: Work collaboratively across the Talent Agency (includes Learning and Engagement), to amplify and support associated initiatives in your region.
- Other: Participate in and support global projects as needed
Required Skills and Experience:
- University Degree or College Diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources, or similar, as well as knowledge of HR related principles and best working practices and procedures, employment standards legislation and other regulatory requirements.
- Minimum 5 years of Human Resources experience in a high volume, multi-location environment required (global Human Resources experience preferred);
- Demonstrated success in supporting employee relations discussions; and ability to demonstrate tact and discretion with sensitive information
- Experience in prioritizing tasks based on requirements of multiple stakeholders; and experience partnering with third party vendors.
- Excellent communication including advanced level English skills both written and verbal, negotiation/influencing, and presentation skills; strong computer literacy skills (experience using MACs a bonus); detail oriented with superior time-management skills; and solid problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external customers (candidates, hiring managers, Talent Agency, etc.) while conveying professionalism and diplomacy; and results driven with an ability to take initiative to create (or improve) processes and services where needed.
- Ability to work from the Toronto, Canada office on a regular basis, as well as additional locations as may be required
