The Challenge
We are looking for a skilled HR Leader to coordinate our Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) activities in NCDOT Division 8.
 
In this role you will:
    • Administer provisions granted to Division 12 NCDOT staff under FMLA, and all other Leave of Absence programs including Short- and Long-Term Disabilities and worker’s compensation.
    • Process and complete separation actions.
    • Serve as our HR Technician III coordinating the areas of Leave of Absence and FMLA.
    • Perform qualification reviews and salary administration as needed.
    • Review applications to determine applicant qualification status.
    • Review our hiring packages to ensure compliance with merit-based hiring practices.
    • Review salary recommendations to ensure compliance with salary administration policies.
    • Serve as a backup to the division approver for Personnel Administration and Organization Management actions using the state’s Human Resources Information System – Fiori (formerly known as BEACON).
 
What You Bring
    • Experience using the NC Human Resources System Fiori (Formerly known as BEACON) to process actions.
    • Working knowledge of Leave of Absence policies such as FMLA, Extended Illness, Short and Long Term Disabilities, etc.
    • Demonstrated ability to handle time sensitive and confidential HR information.
    • Experience screening applicants using an applicant tracking systems such as NeoGov.
    • Experience composing written communication using Microsoft Word and Outlook and using Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets.
 
Education & Experience
    • Associate’s degree in Human Resources or relevant field, and
    • 2+ years or relevant experience; or
    • 3+ years of HR experience; or
  
    • An equivalent combination or education and experience.
