Job Description
- Be a classification & compensation analyst on our Classification and Compensation team.
- Answer questions for junior analysts/technicians, direct them on possible courses of action, and provide assistance for classification actions that are challenging for junior analysts.
- Serve on committees and attend meetings for the group.
- Develop internal and external trainings for staff and field human resource technicians.
- Produce NCDOT reports for projects and requests received.
- Conduct analysis for position actions that may be new or unique to NCDOT.
- Determine if documentation submitted is sufficient.
- Conduct positions analysis making comparisons to other positions, and making decision on appropriate actions.
- Independently develop study plans, strategies, and timeframes to ensure that all issues and problems are addressed, and that study plan is manageable.
- Meet independently with management and State of NC Human Resources (OSHR) staff to present recommendations for position allocations, concepts, and salary grade levels, that normally requires negotiation.
- Work extensively on OSHR Statewide Classification and Compensation Program development and implementation, including developing new classifications for NCDOT.
- Lead subject matter expert groups as the program is implemented.
- Experience completing classification and compensation studies related to organizational management.
- Experience in job evaluation, classification analysis, compensation analysis, and organizational analysis including development of recommendations and detailed analysis reports.
- Experience with the design, restructuring, and classification for a variety of classifications covering various occupational groups.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to write and develop analytical reports.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, and
- 2+ years of experience required; or
- High School/GED Diploma, and
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience; or
- An equivalent combination or education and experience.
